World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago of 1893
Above: World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. The World Columbian Exposition was the World's Fair commemorating 400 years since Christopher Columbus set foot on the New World. This was one of the greatest events in America and around the world at that time. The Columbian Exposition was the great victory of Tesla/Westinghouse Polyphase alternating current electricity. Over 100,000 electrical light bulb was illuminated by Tesla's Polyphase Alternating Current (AC) system. Because of the success of this event, Tesla/Westinghouse were award the Niagara Falls Electric Power Plant contract utilizing Tesla's AC technology. Niagara Falls was the first major hydroelectric power plant in the world.

Above: Wardenclyffe Tower was intended to be the first broadcasting system and wireless transmission of electrical energy in the world. The Wardenclyffe Laboratory and Tower were built in Shoreham, Long Island, between 1901 and 1905.
The Wardenclyffe Tower project was financed by J.P. Morgan. Tesla wanted to transmit electric power wirelessly from the Wardenclyffe Tower to the whole globe. The tower was never completed because of a dispute between Morgan and Tesla as to the final use of the tower. Morgan asked: "If anyone can draw on the power, where do we put the meter?". When he did not receive the answer to this question, he later withdrew his funds.

Above: "Tesla Electrifies the World". The Tesla Coil in action. Tesla discovered the Tesla Coil in 1891. The Tesla Coil is a transformer which converts low voltage, low frequency electicity into high voltage, high frequency electricity.

Above: "Nikola Tesla and Mars". On July 4, 1997, NASA Explorer-Robot "Sojourner" landed on Mars and became the first radio-guided vehicle to roam the surface of the Red Planet with Tesla's Radio technology. Tesla discovered radio remote control which was used to land the "Sojourner" robot on Mars.

Above: "Tesla Coil and Sparks" The Tesla Coil, which he invented in 1891, is widely used today in radio and television sets and other electronic equipment.
